ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Health officials seek information after a kitten bite in Ithaca.

The incident occurred on September 6 around 3 p.m. in the shared parking lot of Dunkin Donuts and Mattress Express on Elmira Road.

The person bitten was helping the young cat’s owner retrieve it from under their vehicle, described as “dark gray and boxy.” Authorities say it was likely an SUV, and it was being driven by a young man with long, dark hair and freckles.

The biting kitten is described as small, about 6 weeks old, with long gray fur and white spots on its stomach and paw. It was not acting aggressively.

The Tompkins County Whole Health Department’s Environmental Health Division wants to verify the kitten’s health through an at-home observation to rule out rabies exposure. Anyone with information is urged to call (607) 274-6688.
