HORNELL, NY (607NewsNow) — A 24-year-old Hornell man is accused of trying to stab a deputy.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to Adrian Palmer’s home Friday after a shoplifting complaint. After reportedly admitting it, Palmer allegedly resisted arrest by trying to stab an arresting officer in the face with a knife.

Palmer was disarmed and charged with attempted assault and menacing a police officer, which are felonies.
