Hornell woman charged with welfare fraud

HORNELL, NY (607NewsNow) — A Hornell woman is accused of committing welfare fraud. 

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard says Amanda Tuttle received over $5,000 in benefits between February and August 2024 from the Department of Social Services she wasn’t eligible to receive. Tuttle, who’s 34, was arrested Tuesday on charges of welfare fraud, grand larceny, and offering a false instrument for filing, which are all felonies. 

Tuttle was arraigned and released.
