ICSD announces plans for NY-required cell phone ban in classrooms

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A state-mandated ban on smart devices in classrooms is coming to the Ithaca City School District.

Thursday, Aug. 28 on Ithaca’s Morning News, Superintendent Dr. Luvelle Brown explained a tiered approach for all schools and students.

Students in Ithaca’s middle and high schools will have a different rule.

Dr. Brown also tells 607 News Now that in case of emergencies, parents should call the front office to reach their kids. The ban, which is a requirement from New York State, starts on the first day of school.
