In 9-1 vote, Common Council approves Ithaca budget

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The 2026 budget in Ithaca is now official.

Some Common Council members expressed reservations before a vote Wednesday on adopting the spending plan. Alderperson Pierre Saint Perez was skeptical.

The only dissenting vote came from Alderperson Kayla Matos, who said she was unhappy with what’s missing from the budget.

Alderperson Margaret Fabrizio says she’d like to see deeper cuts.

The $111 million budget for 2026 was approved Wednesday in a vote of 9-1, with Alderperson Phoebe Brown absent.
