IPD charge PA man with firearm felony after gun discovery

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A weapons charge in Ithaca against a Pennsylvania man.  

Police say the arrest was made on Wednesday, June 24 after a gun was recovered from a vehicle by officers. In a statement, IPD says the investigation began earlier this month.

“On June 14th, 2026, at about 12:12 AM, the Ithaca Police Department responded to the 200 block of Cherry St, Ithaca, NY for a Check the Welfare complaint. Ithaca Police Officers investigated the complaint and confirmed no safety concerns with the involved parties. During the investigation, Officers located and recovered a Taurus handgun from a motor vehicle being operated by Garrett Westbrook, 25 years of age, from New Albany, PA.”

Westbrook is charged with possession of a firearm, which is a felony.
