ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Surveillance in Ithaca is not over.

Despite the Common Council voting to end the city’s contract with Flock Safety, IPD Chief Tom Kelly says the search is on for alternatives.

Common Council members and Ithacans expressed concerns about Flock Safety sharing data with outside agencies. Chief Kelly says technology from companies similar to Flock are very helpful to law enforcement.

The Common Council’s vote was March 4.
