IPD promotes officer to sergeant

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Ithaca Police Department is promoting an officer. 

Julian Byrd is now a sergeant. In 2016 the Ithaca native started his law enforcement career in Syracuse before transferring to IPD a year later.

Byrd joined the crisis negotiations team in 2019 and recently became a state certified firearms instructor for the department.
