ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Ithaca Common Council is once again at full capacity.

Mayor Robert Cantelmo says the applications of two candidates were reviewed by the Selection Committee, which nominated Lara Tomescu to represent an empty seat in the 4th Ward.

The Common Council voted unanimously Wednesday, Oct. 14 on the appointment of Tomescu, who will serve through Dec. 2027.

Over the summer, Alderperson Patrick Kuehl resigned his seat because he was moving to Texas to pursue a Ph.D. in government.

After the vote, Cantelmo presided over Tomescu’s swearing-in before continuing with the Common Council meeting.
