ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Ithaca Police Department might be moving.

The Common Council voted yes Wednesday to purchasing land on Third Street that includes a former bowling alley with the intention of relocating IPD. Mayor Robert Cantelmo discussed the vote Thursday on Ithaca’s Morning News.

The city will spend $1.37 million to purchase the property, which Cantelmo says is ideal for moving IPD.

In 2016, a working group determined the IPD building was the highest priority for replacement.
