ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Local favorites in the Ithaca nightlife scene are closing.

On November 21, Ashley Cake, who owns both The Watershed and The Downstairs, announced that both businesses will shut down permanently next month.

The Watershed, which first opened in 2016, is well known for its cocktails and warm atmosphere, which encouraged conversation and connection. Cake cites local affordability issues and a diminishing nightlife and live entertainment industry as reasons for the closure. You can read Cake’s full statement here.

December 23 will be the final day of business for both establishments.
