ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A traffic stop leads to multiple charges for an Ithaca man.

On May 28, Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies pulled a silver Lexus with a Florida registration over for speeding on Elmira Road.

The driver, identified as Deshawn Simmons, was arrested after a records check. Deputies say the 46-year-old did not have a valid driver’s license and has failed to answer to 20 different vehicle and traffic tickets on 11 separate dates.

Simmons is charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation.

The vehicle was required to be towed from the scene. According to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, more charges are possible after a pill bearing a butterfly emblem was found in the car. The pill has been submitted to the New York Police Laboratory for analysis.
