Ithaca man found with gun after bicycle traffic stop, police say

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Ithaca Police have recovered a gun during a traffic stop.

According to a news release from the Ithaca Police Department, officers stopped a bicycle around 3:40 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of W. Clinton St. after seeing violations.

35-year-old Philip Lewis was arrested after police say they saw what looked like a handgun in the front pouch of his sweatshirt. He’s been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, which is a felony.

Lewis was arraigned in Ithaca City Court and was taken to the Tompkins County jail.
