ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A lengthy bridge closure is coming to Ithaca near Cornell University.

Construction crews are gathering materials near the intersection of Fall Creek Drive and Stewart Avenue today in preparation for the Stewart Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

The work will include replacing degraded structural components, a concrete deck, approach slabs, guiderail, curbs, and sidewalks. The City of Ithaca, NYS DOT, and the National Highway Performance Program are funding the project.

That area of Stewart Ave will shut down on Monday, May 4, and will remain closed until mid-November 2026. The anticipated completion date is November 16.

A pedestrian detour map is available here.
