MARATHON, NY (607NewsNow) – The Marathon Central School District (MCSD) is taking steps to increase transparency.

On May 1, MCSD announced that they’re adopting the meeting-management software Diligent Community.

The governance and meeting-management platform, designed specifically for public-sector organizations, will help to keep the community more informed by sending out automatic announcements and updates. It also allows users to explore meeting agendas and other documents through a public website, as well as submit requests to speak with a district official online.

It follows recent news that the district will likely make staff and programming cuts for the upcoming academic year after discovering a $3 million budget shortfall. MCSD Superintendent Jamie Coppola recently discussed the process on 607 This Morning.  The budget vote is May 19.
