MARATHON, NY (607NewsNow) — A 22-year member of the Marathon Fire Department has died.

Tim Brown joined in 2004, eventually working his way to the rank of captain. Brown also served as Marathon’s assistant fire chief during his years working in the department. In addition, Brown was a longtime driver for MAVAC, the Marathon Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

“Our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers are with his family, loved ones, and fellow firefighters during this incredibly difficult time. We stand alongside them in grief and in honoring a life dedicated to the service of others,” the department wrote in a Sept. 6 Facebook post.

According to an obituary, the 43-year-old Brown became ill at the fire station. He died Sept. 5. Brown’s family will accept friends at the Marathon Memorial Chapel on Sept. 19 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
