Measles case confirmed in Tioga County

OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) — Tioga County Public Health is investigating a highly contagious virus.

A case of measles has been confirmed. On Aug. 13, health officials said an unvaccinated county resident tested positive for the virus.

To protect the affected person’s privacy, officials said additional details will not be released. They said the overall risk of measles to the general public remains low, and all individuals known to have been exposed are being contacted directly.
