MORAVIA, NY (607NewsNow) — The search is over for a new superintendent in Moravia.

Dr. Christopher Leahey is coming to the district from North Syracuse, where he’s currently deputy superintendent. Moravia Board of Education President Neil Stevens says Leahey demonstrated a ‘student-centered approach to leadership’ during the interview process.

“I am honored to join the Moravia school community,” Dr. Leahey said. “True progress happens when people work together. I look forward to listening, learning, and building upon the strong foundation already in place. By working collaboratively with our teachers, staff, administrators, families, and community members, we will continue creating opportunities that allow every student to succeed.”

A meet and greet will be held Wednesday, March 25 in the Junior-Senior High School cafeteria at 6 p.m. Dr. Leahey will also be formally appointed by the Moravia school board on Wednesday.

Leahey starts as superintendent on July 1.
