ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A traffic stop leads to drug charges for an Ithaca man.

On August 20, officers working a Gun Involved Violence Elimination (G.I.V.E.) detail say they observed a car commit traffic violations around 10:30 p.m. while leaving a gas station in the city.

The driver, Breon Brooks, of Ithaca, was stopped on West State Street.

A K9 search of the car allegedly turned up 4.5 oz. of methamphetamine, 4.5 oz. of cocaine, and 15 grams of heroin. Authorities say the 33-year-old was also found with a taser.

Brooks is charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony criminal possession of a weapon, and a misdemeanor for criminally using drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to Tompkins County Jail without bail.

The GIVE detail was conducted jointly with the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Ithaca Police Department, and New York State Police.
