Names of victims killed in Dryden house fire released by Sheriff’s office

DRYDEN, NY (607NewsNow) — The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office is identifying the names of two people killed Friday, July 3 in a Dryden house fire.

37-year-old Kayla Wood and 47-year-old Dennis Davis died in the blaze at a 2-family house on Lake Rd. Deputies added that two dogs were also killed in the fire.

“Our hearts are with the family, and everyone affected by this devastating fire. On behalf of the Sheriff’s Office, we extend our deepest condolences. This is a heartbreaking loss for their families and our community,” according up a statement released on Monday, July 6 by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of Friday’s fire remains under investigation. According to the Dryden Fire Department, firefighters remained on the scene for about 13 hours.
