ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A school in Ithaca is welcoming a new administrator.

Delmer Padgett III has joined the New Roots Charter School as associate principal. Tina Nilsen-Hodges, the principal and superintendent for the school, says Padgett will fit in very well.

“Padgett is the perfect fit for New Roots Charter School, from his philosophical alignment and
student-centered leadership to his love of music and a background in career and technical
education. I am thrilled that he is joining our growing school community,” Nilsen-Hodges said.

Padgett, a native of Candor, NY and a graduate of Ithaca College, brings over 20 years of education and school leadership experience to New Roots.

“I am beyond thrilled to be joining the New Roots family!” Padgett wrote in his recent letter to
New Roots families. “From my very first interactions with the school, I’ve been deeply inspired
by your commitment to sustainability, social equity, and empowering young people to think
critically, act courageously, and lead with purpose.”

New Roots in Ithaca is now in its 18th year.
