NEWARK VALLEY, NY (607NewsNow) — A Tioga County village wants NYSEG to be held accountable.

On Feb. 26, trustees in Newark Valley passed a resolution urging immediate review of NYSEG’s electric delivery charges. The review would be done by the New York State Public Service Commission.

According to the resolution, residents and small businesses in the village are experiencing “unsustainable” increases in electric bills. The resolution also states that rural communities such as Newark Valley are “disproportionally impacted” by the increases.

The village is calling on the Public Service Commission to prioritize ratepayer affordability and demand greater transparency from NYSEG.

The Cincinnatus Town Board recently passed a similar resolution.
