NWS confirms Monday tornado in Virgil

VIRGIL, NY (CortacaToday) — The National Weather Service has finished surveying damage from Monday’s storms. 

 In Cortland County, forecasters confirmed an EF0 tornado struck in Virgil. Winds peaked at 80 miles an hour. It lasted an estimated 12 minutes. Some homes suffered roof damage while Daisy Hollow Road was littered with fallen tree limbs.

Forecasters also say Greek Peak saw some of Monday’s tornado before it lifted.
