NYS Burn Ban in effect through May 14

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The state burn ban is in effect.

Seeking to reduce the risk of wildfire as temperatures warm up, the annual spring burn ban on brush and vegetation is officially underway.

Small cooking fires and campfires are permitted.

The ban is scheduled to run through May 14.

Anyone who witnesses illegal burning is encouraged to contact the DEC.
