Officers searching at Buttermilk Falls State Park for distressed person

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Troopers are searching for someone at Buttermilk Falls State Park. 

Joined by New York State Park Police officers, the state police are looking for a person experiencing a mental health crisis. There was a search underway last night, though more specific details are unavailable. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and K-9 units are also helping. 

“Residents and visitors may notice increased police presence and activity in the area. Authorities want to assure the public that there is no danger to the community,” state police said in a statement.
