HOMER, NY (607NewsNow) — 60 tickets and one arrest by troopers in Homer.

Operation Hard Hat was set up Tuesday, June 9 on I-81 northbound near the Homer exit, where crews were making road repairs. Most of the tickets issued were for speeding, and state police say a 49-year-old Illinois man was driving 80 miles an hour in a work zone.

Rashi Brown “subsequently entered a U-turn in the town of Preble and began traveling southbound on Interstate 81 toward the town of Homer,” troopers said.

“Brown exited the interstate at Exit 54 in Homer and continued to travel through the town of Cortlandville and the city of Cortland before entering a parking lot across from Guthrie Cortland Medical Center near the intersection of Homer Avenue and Alvena Avenue in the city of Cortland where he was taken into custody without further incident.”

Brown was charged with misdemeanor unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and 10 traffic tickets.
