OVID, NY (607NewsNow) — The Ovid community is crushed after Tuesday night’s block fire.

The blaze destroyed several buildings on Main Street, including the Big M grocery store and the Italian Kitchen pizza parlor.

Lisa Brewer, owner of Brewer’s Septic in Ovid, said Big M means a lot to the village.

“It’s the cornerstone of the community,” she said. “When you think of Ovid, you think of the Big M.”

Brewer said the family-owned grocery store is accommodating and full of great people. She hopes Big M and Italian Kitchen will come back “bigger, better, and stronger.”

In a Facebook post, Italian Kitchen thanked the first responders who helped put out the blaze.
