Owego Fire Department honors memory of former chief Ed Bidwell

OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) – The Owego Fire Department is mourning the loss of a life member.

On August 10, Former Chief Edward “Ed” Bidwell passed away.

In a post on social media, Owego Fire calls Bidwell more than their past leader; he is a part of the department’s history and tradition. A Vietnam War veteran, Bidwell was also a life member of Glen A. Warner VFW Post #1371, and a life member of the American Legion Tioga Post #401.

Calling hours will be held on August 17 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe, & Fahey Funeral Home in Owego, with a funeral service the following day at 10 a.m. Owego FD will fly its flags at half-staff until after the services on Tuesday, August 18.

Bidwell was 80 years old.
