ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County is releasing its 2026 to 2027 curbside recycling guidelines.

Effective July 1, paper cups will be accepted in roadside pickup across the county.

Officials with Recycling and Materials Management say new technology has made paper cups easier to process. Most everyday paper beverage cups, including cups used for fountain drinks or hot beverages, meet the criteria. They must be empty, and any straws and lids need to be removed. No Styrofoam cups will be accepted.
