Peck Memorial Library receives $1 million for Opera Hall renovation

MARATHON, NY (607NewsNow) – The state is supporting an aging community structure in Cortland County.

On June 2, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that Peck Memorial Library in Marathon has received a $1 million grant from the New York State Council on the Arts Capital Projects program.

The money will be used for the restoration and redevelopment of the old 600-seat Opera Hall.

Built in the late 1890s, Peck Memorial was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Over 100 organizations were awarded more than $82.2 million in this year’s round of the NYS Council of the Arts Capital Projects program.
