Police ID victim in fatal Owego crash


OWEGO, NY (CortacaToday) -Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal crash in Owego.

State Police say 52-year-old Steven Myszka, of Olean, was merging onto Route 17 on his motorcycle Thursday afternoon when he collided with a tractor-trailer. Myszka and his passenger, 52-year-old Karie VanDeusen, also of Olean, were among a group of motorcycles merging from the Exit 66 on-ramp, which was reduced to one lane for ongoing construction. The eastbound lanes of Route 17 were shut down between exits 65 and 67 for about 4 hours after the crash.

Myszka was injured and taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. VanDeusen passed away as a result of her injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
