Police identify victim in fatal Virgil crash

VIRGIL, NY (607NewsNow) – State Police are sharing more information about a fatal crash in Cortland County.

On July 8, troopers responded to Page Green Road near State Route 392 around 11:45 a.m. for a one-vehicle accident.

The victim is identified as 51-year-old Nicholas Benner of Cortland. Troopers say Benner was driving south on Page Green Road when his 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck an embankment. Benner later died at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
