CAYUGA HEIGHTS, NY (607NewsNow) — The Cayuga Heights Police Department is charging a 20-year-old with murder.

In an updated statement released on Monday, Chief Jerry Wright says Damian Stewart stabbed 19-year-old Breanne Keane around 2 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Triphammer Rd.

“[Keane] was medically treated at the scene and then transported while life saving measure continued. [She] succumbed to her injuries while in transport to a local trauma center after attempted life saving measures were unsuccessful,” Wright said.

Initially, Wright said a death investigation was “being treated as a murder” in a brief statement released Sunday, May 24.

Stewart has been charged with second-degree murder. He’s currently being held in the Tompkins County jail.
