OVID, NY (607NewsNow) – An Ovid woman is facing multiple charges following an animal welfare check.

On July 28, Mary Dewey was arrested and charged with six counts of felony aggravated cruelty to animals and seven misdemeanor counts of failure to provide sustenance to animals.

The arrest follows the July 9 seizure of three cats and four dogs from the 63-year-old’s home on West Seneca Street. According to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, the animals were found in poor health and living conditions, and they required “immediate veterinary intervention.” Additionally, six dead dogs were discovered on the property.

Dewey was arraigned and released to appear in court at a later date.
