ERIE, PA (607NewsNow) — The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are popping champagne after winning the Eastern League Championship Series.

On Wednesday, Binghamton outscored Erie 8-2 in the final game of the series. Infielder Wyatt Young hit two doubles in the victory.

The Ponies broke the game open with a three-run sixth inning. Binghamton’s bullpen then protected the lead by holding Erie scoreless over the final few innings.

The victory marked Binghamton’s first Eastern League title since 2014. After the game, Binghamton Mayor Jared Kraham honored the Ponies on Facebook.
