LANSING, NY (607NewsNow) – Winter weather has arrived early in Tompkins County.

On November 3, about half an inch of sleet came down around 9:15 p.m. during a thunderstorm in parts of Lansing.

Tompkins County has also recently seen multiple nights with low temperatures below freezing, as recently as Halloween, which led to the activation of Code Blue protocols.

The Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a cold and snowy winter for much of the northeastern United States, with frequent cold snaps and snowstorms.
