CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Staff cuts are possible in the Cortland Enlarged City School District

Superintendent Bob Edwards tells 607 News Now planning for the 2026-27 school year budget revealed a multi-million-dollar deficit when the process began in January.

Part of the Cortland school district spending plan proposal for the next academic year is increasing the tax levy to 6.5%, which is over the state tax cap.

A supermajority of 60% is required to pass the roughly $58 million spending plan proposal in Cortland on May 19.
