CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A SUNY Cortland student is receiving recognition from Barack Obama.

According to the school, sophomore and physical education major Ikenna Okoye was the main focus of a social media post by the former president on February 6.

Okoye is one of 18 young ambassadors in the Obama Foundation’s My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, which works to improve communities through service and mentorship. In the post, which has received over 100,000 likes on Instagram, Obama credits Okoye’s work to help elementary school students learn to read.
