ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – A threatening email is under investigation at Cornell.

On September 4, the Cornell Daily Sun received a message threatening the lives of Jewish and LGBTQIA+ studentsĀ on campus.

The sender sent the email from an address that mimicked official communication from President Michael Kotlikoff. It claimed the threats were in response to the University being complicit in genocide in Palestine and “extorting the local population out of so-called ‘income taxes’ and ‘property taxes.'”

University officials say the message originated from an overseas account. It follows a series of similar threatening messages sent to local public school districts last week. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cornell University Public Safety Communications Center at (607)-255-1111.

The incident has been reported to the FBI.
