ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — 911 infrastructure in the Southern Tier is getting a boost.
Senator Lea Webb says nearly $4.5 million will support the implementation of Next Generation 911 in Tompkins, Cortland, and Broome counties. The state funding will help modernize emergency response systems. Tompkins County gets over $1.5 million while Cortland County is receiving nearly $1.3 million.
“In rural communities like ours, it is imperative that our first responders have modern and robust emergency response and communication systems,” Webb said. “These funds will ensure that local dispatchers have the technology to keep our communities safe.”
Broome County will receive over $1.6 million.
