ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County is activating Code Blue protocols.

On November 9, temperatures are expected to fall below freezing for a period of two or more consecutive hours.

Outside of normal Department of Social Services (DSS) operating hours and on weekends, anyone who needs shelter can call non-emergency dispatch at (607) 272-2444 to be connected to DSS on-call services.

During normal hours of operation (M-F 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.), visit DSS at 320 West State Street in Ithaca or call DSS Emergency Housing Services at (607) 274-5030.

Crews are still working to finish the county’s Code Blue winter shelter at 227 Cherry Street in Ithaca. It’s expected to be finished in the coming weeks.
