ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County Administration’s recommended 2026 budget is $240 million.

On September 2, officials presented the first budget draft to Tompkins County Legislators.

In a tight budget year with state and federal funding amounts in question, Deputy County Administrator Norma Jayne explains the first version of the spending plan calls for increased taxes.

“As we always do, we will discuss it thoroughly and make whatever changes we think should be made to the budget,” said Legislator and Budget, Capital, and Personnel Committee Chair Mike Lane. “Not because it’s not a good budget, but because that’s what we do.”

Legislative Chair Dan Klein echoed that sentiment, responding to any knee-jerk reactions.

You can view the upcoming meeting schedule here.

The budget draft and other supporting documents are available on the Administration page of the Tompkins County website.

You can watch the full recommended budget presentation here. It starts at 47:00 minutes.
