What’s new about SNAP? Tompkins County DSS leader explains

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Eligibility requirements are different now to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

Tompkins County Department of Social Services Commissioner Brittanie Earle tells 607 News Now federal law changed last year. 

Age limits have also changed. 

The changes in federal SNAP requirements took effect Feb. 1, 2026.
