Tompkins County faces $9.8 million deficit in 2027

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — Another difficult budget year is being closely examined. 

Tompkins County Administrator Korsah Akumfi tells 607 News Now in the early stages of developing a spending plan for 2027, they’re looking at a big deficit. 

Akumfi says it’s similar to last year’s budget, which initially saw a projected deficit of $11 million. To stay below the tax cap, Akumfi tells us over $8 million in cuts are needed.
