ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Tompkins County GOP has a new leader.

Chantel Marquis was unanimously approved as chairwoman at a committee meeting on Thursday.

“As the new Chairwoman for the Tompkins County Republican Committee, I will remain steadfast and hopeful for all Republicans in Tompkins County. I believe that we will continue to prove our patriotism and grow our respective village, town, and city committees. We are looking forward to the incoming presidential administration and turning a page for the American people. We welcome Republicans in Tompkins County to get involved and continue to stand up against tyranny,” Marquis said.

Marquis had been serving as interim chair since November, after Tompkins County Legislator Mike Sigler decided to step down.
