ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — There’s a leadership change at the Tompkins County Public Library.

Susan Currie will begin as interim director on April 1. She’s replacing former director Leslie Tabor, who recently resigned.

Currie is no stranger to the library; she served as its director from 2009-2017. She then returned as interim director in 2021 to help restore services that were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently, Currie represents District 3 on the Tompkins County Legislature. Her seat will be vacant as of March 31 as she transitions to the library.

Legislative Chair Dan Klein said Currie has been an “excellent representative” for her district. The legislature will soon hold a special election to fill her seat for the remainder of 2025.

The library plans to launch a search for a permanent director in the coming months. Currie is expected to be onboard through September.
