Traffic stop leads to drug charges for Freeville man

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Drugs were found after a traffic stop in Cortland.

State Police say Derrick Cole was pulled over around 7:30 a.m. Friday for driving without front or back plates. The vehicle was also unregistered, uninsured, and the Freeville man’s license was suspended.

Troopers say they found suspected meth and cocaine, a smoking pipe with meth residue, and oxycodone in the car. The 39-year-old Cole was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree. He’s also been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the 3rd degree.
