ELMIRA, NY (607NewsNow) – An Ithaca woman is in Chemung County Court this week.

On March 10, the jurors in the Fatiuna Massaline trial were chosen after an 8-hour selection process. Massaline is accused of being the getaway driver in a March 2024 Big Flats retail theft that led to the critical injury of Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Michael Theetge.

The other person with Massaline that day, Dominick Haley, of Ithaca, recently pled guilty for his role in the incident. The pair were originally indicted on felony charges of assaulting a police officer and assault with a weapon. According to WENY-TV, it’s unclear if Haley will testify against Massaline as part of his plea deal.

Investigator Theetge, who suffered a fractured skull, went through months of intensive treatment and physical therapy from his injuries.
