TRUMANSBURG, NY (607NewsNow) — The Trumansburg Central School District can move forward on improvement projects.

Voters approved the district’s two proposed projects yesterday. Proposition 1 was green lit by a vote of 476-to-96. Proposition 2 was also met favorably by residents, who approved it by a margin of 434-to-138.

PROPOSITION #1
SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED, TO-WIT: RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Trumansburg Central School District is hereby authorized to undertake certain capital improvements consisting of addition to, and construction and reconstruction of, existing school buildings and facilities, including, without limitation, security upgrades at the Elementary and Middle School, Auditorium improvements and addition of a standby generator at the High School, air conditioning improvements in the Elementary School Auditorium and High School Gymnasium, drainage and various site, track and athletic field improvements and the acquisition of certain original furnishings, equipment, and apparatus and other incidental improvements required in connection therewith for such construction and school use, all at an estimated maximum aggregate cost of $13,635,000; and to appropriate and expend from the existing capital reserve fund $2,200,000 for such costs, and that the balance of such cost, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax to be collected in annual installments, with such tax to be offset by state aid available therefor; and, in anticipation of such tax, debt obligations of the school district as may be necessary not to exceed $11,435,000 shall be issued.

PROPOSITION #2

IF PROPOSITION #1 IS APPROVED, SHALL THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION BE ADOPTED, TO-WIT: RESOLVED, Resolved that the Board of Education of the Trumansburg Central School District is hereby authorized to undertake certain additional capital improvements, consisting of reconstruction of existing school buildings and facilities, including, without limitation, High School stage improvements, air conditioning improvements in two Elementary School classrooms and the student services wing at the High School, improvements to toilet rooms at the Middle School and additional critical replacements of electrical panels, various site, sidewalk, JV soccer field improvements, and the acquisition of certain original furnishings, equipment, and apparatus and other incidental improvements required in connection therewith for such construction and school use, all at an estimated maximum aggregate cost of $4,715,000; and that such cost, or so much thereof as may be necessary, shall be raised by the levy of a tax to be collected in annual installments, with such tax to be offset by state aid available therefor; and, in anticipation of such tax, debt obligations of the school district as may be necessary not to exceed such estimated maximum aggregate cost shall be issued.

The School District, acting as lead agency to the extent necessary, if any, for this purpose under the State Environmental Quality Review Act and the applicable regulations promulgated thereunder (“SEQRA”), has completed its environmental review and, on August 19, 2025, has duly determined and found the capital improvements herein to constitute individually and collectively a type II action under SEQRA which will not have a significant impact on the environment and is not subject to any further environmental review under SEQRA.

Both projects have a combined price tag of nearly $18.4 million.
