CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – Two additional arrests have been made in the SUNY Cortland Child Care Center child abuse investigation.

State Police have charged Christopher Chapman of Homer with child endangerment, saying the 29-year-old engaged in conduct that “placed a child’s physical, mental, and moral well-being at risk.”

Jennifer Eckert-Dennison, of Lisle, is charged with failure to report child abuse. Troopers say the 54-year-old, an employee of the SUNY Cortland Human Resources Department, failed her mandated duties, which included reporting allegations to appropriate authorities. Both charges are misdemeanors.

It brings the total number of arrests in the investigation to six. The facility has since permanently closed, and parents of a toddler involved have sued New York State for $10 million.

Chapman and Eckert-Dennison are due in Cortland City Court on September 14.
